Cardano’s ADA Spikes 8% on Leios Upgrade and RealFi Launch
Cardano’s native token, ADA, surged 8% to $0.27 on October 5, marking its strongest daily rally since May and reaching a five-month high. The price jump came as Bitcoin and Ethereum remained relatively stable, allowing ADA to outperform much of the broader crypto market. The rally was fueled by increased attention to Cardano’s upcoming Linear Leios scaling upgrade, highlighted by founder Charles Hoskinson in a post that included a 15-minute ADA/USDT chart and the hashtag #LeiosIsComing.
Linear Leios, detailed in CIP-164, is designed to expand Cardano’s transaction capacity while maintaining the security of its existing Praos chain. Testing on the public Musashi Dojo network showed Leios achieving 26.8 TxkB/s, about six times the current mainnet capacity of 4.51 TxkB/s. The upgrade plans to use larger endorser blocks alongside regular Praos blocks, creating more room for applications as demand grows. Deployment is targeted for late 2026, pending further testing and governance approval.
The price increase also followed the October 1 mainnet launch of RealFi, a Cardano-native real-world asset stablecoin protocol. RealFi completed a public testnet with over 3,000 verified active wallets before going live and has integrations with Lace, Liqwid, and SundaeSwap. The launch adds another use case for Cardano, connecting on-chain liquidity with tokenized real-world financial assets.
Technically, ADA’s move toward $0.27 brings the $0.28 area into focus as the next nearby resistance. While the rally shows quick trader response to ecosystem developments, sustained upside will depend on increased network usage, liquidity, and application activity.
