Cardano's ADA Token Plummets Amid Weak On-Chain Activity
Cardano's ADA token has been struggling in recent times, ranking among the weakest-performing cryptocurrencies in the market. Despite its all-time high near $3.10, the token plummeted to around $0.16 at press time, down by a significant margin.
The on-chain metrics for Cardano paint a bleak picture as well. The network logged only 21,700 transactions over the past day, a steep drop from its peak of roughly 57,000. This trend has been consistent across recent trading and much of this year, with daily transaction counts hovering between 11,000 and 20,000.
The lack of on-chain activity is also reflected in the Active Addresses metric, which ticked up to around 13,860 but still suggests a larger pool of users generating limited on-chain activity. Thin address activity paired with low Transaction Count weighs heavily on the chain's utility.
Exchange activity also tells a similar story, with heavy investor participation failing to lift the bearish outlook. Spot Average Order Size data shows large whales dominating ADA trading on centralized exchanges, and weighed against Spot Market Netflow, that whale dominance translates into net selling of ADA over the past two weeks.
