Cardano's AI Agent Economy Move Fails to Boost Price Expectations
Cardano has become the latest addition to the AI agent economy, joining the x402 ecosystem, a new payment standard created by Coinbase. This move is seen as a way for Cardano to tap into the growing demand for blockchain technology in the AI agent space. However, despite this development, experts do not expect Cardano's price to surge anytime soon.
According to data from Agent Economy, Cardano has so far recorded only 38,777 transactions on its homegrown effort called Masumi, which is significantly lower than the 85 million x402 payments on the Base chain, Coinbase's network, and 66.9 million on Solana. This suggests that Cardano still has a long way to go in terms of adoption and usage.
Moreover, the bigger problem is that holders would not see much benefit even if Cardano's agentic payments ecosystem really took off. Suppose Cardano won every x402 payment ever made, it would be worth $41.8 million in stablecoins, which is a small fraction of Cardano's $9.2 billion market value.
