Cardano's Patient Approach to Blockchain Development Pays Off

Cardano is a proof-of-stake blockchain that runs on its native token ADA. The network was launched in 2017 and has garnered attention for its unique approach to development, prioritizing peer-reviewed research over rapid iteration.

Instead of relying on energy-intensive mining like Bitcoin, Cardano's Ouroboros consensus algorithm selects validators based on the amount of ADA they've staked. This not only reduces energy consumption but also promotes a more decentralized and inclusive network.

The total supply of ADA is capped at 45 billion, with approximately 81% already in circulation. The remaining tokens are set to be minted over time, with market capitalization currently around $8.16 billion.

Cardano supports various use cases, including identity verification, supply chain management, and smart contracts through its Plutus language. Governance is also a key aspect of the network, with ADA holders voting directly on protocol changes or delegating their vote to DReps (Decentralized Representatives).
