Cardano's Price Drop Explained: Whales Take Profits Amid ETF Caution

Cardano's (ADA) recent price drop of about 3 percentage points over 40 hours is attributed to three key factors. Whales, or large holders of ADA, began to take profits after accumulating significant amounts of the cryptocurrency in early August.

In the week leading up to this pullback, whales accumulated around 240 million ADA in just five days. This surge in spot buying and derivatives activity drove ADA's price up through the 0.18-0.20 dollar area and briefly above 0.21 dollars.

However, as prices rose, these large holders started to reduce their positions, which is a classic pattern of whales distributing into strength. When technical indicators flipped bearish, even a small shift in flows led to a few percentage points of downside over 24-40 hours.
