Cathie Wood Forecasts 1,665% Bitcoin Price Surge by 2030
Cathie Wood, founder of ARK Invest, has made a series of bold predictions about the future of Bitcoin. In a recent report, Wood forecasts a base-case price of $710,000 to $800,000 by 2030, with a bull-case ceiling of $2.4 million. This would represent a potential gain of 1,665% from Bitcoin's current price of around $81,500.
Wood's projections are based on several factors, including the expected growth of Bitcoin's market capitalization to approximately $16 trillion by 2030, within a total crypto market capitalization of around $28 trillion. She also notes that Bitcoin's supply is expected to remain near 20.5 million coins by 2030, which would support a price range of $760,000 to $800,000 under base assumptions.
Wood's confidence in her predictions stems from several structural shifts, including the launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs in the US and corporate treasury adoption. She argues that these changes will provide a permanent increase in demand for Bitcoin and reduce the need for short-term price signals.
However, Wood also acknowledges that the growing footprint of stablecoins could absorb some of the demand that earlier models credited entirely to Bitcoin. This could compress price outcomes relative to earlier projections, which is why she trimmed the bull case from $1.5 million to $1.2 million.
