Cathie Wood Predicts Bitcoin Could Hit $2.4 Million by 2030
ARK Invest founder Cathie Wood has set a bold target for Bitcoin (BTC), predicting the cryptocurrency could reach $710,000 to $800,000 by 2030 under a base-case scenario. Her firm's most optimistic projection goes even further, suggesting Bitcoin could hit $2.4 million in the same timeframe. These forecasts hinge on several key factors, including continued institutional adoption, growing demand for regulated investment products like spot Bitcoin ETFs, and increased corporate treasury holdings of BTC.
The bullish outlook is driven by expectations of Bitcoin's expanding market capitalization, which ARK Invest anticipates could reach roughly $16 trillion by 2030. With around 20.5 million coins in circulation, this valuation would place Bitcoin near the upper end of the base-case forecast. The cryptocurrency's predetermined issuance schedule, which limits supply growth, also plays a crucial role in supporting this projection.
However, ARK Invest acknowledges potential challenges to these predictions. The rapid expansion of stablecoins could divert some demand away from Bitcoin, while regulatory changes, weaker institutional interest, and shifting macroeconomic conditions might also impact its trajectory. The firm emphasizes that reaching the $2.4 million target would require unprecedented levels of adoption and capital inflows.
Despite these uncertainties, Wood's forecast remains one of the most aggressive long-term predictions from a major investment firm. The actual outcome will depend on how quickly institutional adoption and broader cryptocurrency usage develop over the next several years.
