Cboe and S&P Dow Jones Extend Licensing Agreement for S&P 500 Options

Cboe Global Markets has extended its exclusive licensing agreement with S&P Dow Jones Indices for S&P 500 index options through 2051. This deal allows Cboe to maintain its position as a leading provider of these derivatives, which are among the most heavily traded in the world.

The partnership between Cboe and S&P DJI has been in place since 1983, when Cboe launched the first S&P 500 index options product. The companies have now extended their agreement by another 25 years.

The extension paves the way for the development of new products, including potentially tokenized options contracts. Tokenization involves converting traditional assets into blockchain-based tokens, allowing for automated settlement and other benefits.
