CCIP 2.0 Sets Sights on Onchain Finance Interoperability
CCIP 2.0 has gone live, aiming to position itself as infrastructure for onchain finance. The system addresses the need for security, compliance, and speed in cross-chain transactions without fragmenting institutions. CCIP 2.0 introduces custom Cross-Chain Verifiers (CCVs), which can be deployed within cloud services like Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. Enterprise operators such as Infosys and Nethermind also provide verification.
The system gives asset issuers more control over settlement, allowing for high-frequency transfers to use faster execution paths while requiring full finality and time-delayed approvals for high-value transactions. CCIP 2.0 has native integration with Chainlink ACE, which embeds policy controls directly into cross-chain transfers. These include issuer-defined KYC, AML, sanctions screening, allowlists, and exposure limits.
More than $84 billion in total cross-chain token value is secured on CCIP, with over $15 billion migrating to the infrastructure. Major crypto networks and protocols such as Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Aave, and ZKsync have expressed support for CCIP 2.0.
