Celtic Dominates AC Milan Pre-Season Friendly Amid Blockchain Controversies
AC Milan's pre-season friendly against Celtic at Celtic Park on Friday ended in defeat for the Italian club, who trailed 2-0 at halftime after Camilo Durán scored in the 11th minute and James Forrest added another goal in the 28th. The loss serves as a reminder of the significant digital investments AC Milan has made in recent years, particularly its adoption of blockchain technology.
The club launched its $ACM fan token through a partnership with Socios.com and Chiliz in January 2021, allowing holders to vote on minor decisions and access exclusive rewards. In July 2025, AC Milan extended its partnership with Bitpanda, a European crypto exchange, to feature the Vision (VSN) token as a back-of-shirt sponsor.
Celtic, by contrast, has not pursued any blockchain partnerships or fan tokens. The differing digital strategies of the two clubs highlight the challenges and complexities involved in launching and maintaining such initiatives.
