CertiK Joins LFDT to Strengthen Open-Source Blockchain Security
CertiK has joined the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust Initiative (LFDT), expanding its blockchain security expertise to open-source projects. The company's membership in LFDT, announced on September 24, 2026, will enable CertiK to contribute its audit, formal verification, and research expertise to decentralized infrastructure used by enterprises and institutions worldwide.
CertiK has a history of participating in LFDT initiatives, having previously conducted research on Besu, an Ethereum execution client hosted by the organization. In July 2026, CertiK's blockchain security researchers discovered five vulnerabilities in Besu that could affect node availability on affected configurations. The company reported these findings to the Besu team and provided proof-of-concept testing tools, which were subsequently fixed in version 26.7.1.
The membership of CertiK in LFDT is part of a broader effort by the organization to promote open-source technology solutions for various industries, including finance, banking, healthcare, telecoms, and logistics supply chains. The LFDT initiative provides governance and technical support for decentralized technology implementations, making it an attractive partner for companies like CertiK that want to contribute their expertise to the development of secure and reliable blockchain infrastructure.
The partnership between CertiK and LFDT is significant because it enables the company to interface its security offerings with traditional financial market infrastructure. The LFDT projects include banking, logistics, telecommunication, health care, and other enterprise sectors, which will provide CertiK's security teams with opportunities to contribute their expertise and help strengthen the decentralized infrastructure used by these industries.
