CertiK Joins Linux Foundation Initiative for Blockchain Security

CertiK has joined LF Decentralized Trust (LFDT), an open-source initiative from the Linux Foundation focused on decentralized technologies. As a member, CertiK plans to contribute its expertise in blockchain security, formal verification, and auditing to various projects used by enterprises and institutions.

The company's decision to join LFDT follows its earlier research on Besu, an Ethereum client hosted by the organization. In August, CertiK's researchers discovered five vulnerabilities affecting Besu, which were later patched by the team in version 26.7.1.

CertiK believes that security and compliance should be integrated into the development process from the outset, rather than being treated as afterthoughts. The company's co-founder and CEO, Ronghui Gu, stated, 'Security and compliance can't be treated as one-off exercises bolted on late in a project's lifecycle anymore; that's exactly the kind of thinking the current regulatory environment is punishing.'

LFDT Executive Director Daniela Barbosa noted that contributions from security researchers like CertiK could support the development and deployment of open-source projects. 'The industry needs infrastructure that's built to standards from the start, not adapted to them after the fact,' she said.
