CFTC Chair Seeks Broader Adoption of Tokenized Markets
CFTC Chair Michael Selig has signaled a shift towards tokenized markets, indicating that U.S. markets should prepare for broader adoption of blockchain infrastructure and continuous trading.
Selig made his comments during a recent speech at the U.S. Treasury Market Conference in New York, where he linked on-chain finance with tokenized collateral and 24/7 trading.
The CFTC has already published guidance on continuous markets and digital collateral, which Selig connected to existing work on collateral rules and market-hour extensions.
Selig emphasized that regulators should adapt legacy frameworks to accommodate blockchain and artificial intelligence technologies operating at scale.
