CFTC Cracks Down with Standalone Crypto Rules Amid Senate Roadblock
The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is moving forward with its own digital-asset regulations after the CLARITY Act failed to pass the Senate.
The CFTC submitted a new proposed rule titled 'Regulation Crypto Asset Transactions and regulation Crypto Asset Markets' to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on September 17.
Michael Selig, a CFTC commissioner, directed staff to develop ways to formalize the digital-asset market structure using existing authority under current law, separate from congressional legislation.
