CFTC Eases Regulatory Burden on Derivatives Access Software
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has issued a no-action position, providing regulatory relief for 'passive trading software' firms that connect users to CFTC-registered derivatives venues.
This move is significant for crypto builders as it creates a clearer path for non-custodial wallets and other software applications to integrate regulated derivatives access without automatically requiring broker registration.
The new stance builds on the agency's earlier no-action letter granted to Phantom Technologies in March, which allowed Phantom to provide self-custodial wallet software that connects users with registered futures brokers and exchanges.
