CFTC Joins SEC in Exploring Crypto Regulations Amid CLARITY Act Stalemate

Share

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is set to join forces with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in exploring crypto regulations without the passage of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act.

A committee meeting scheduled for August 20 will address regulation related to cryptocurrency, AI, and prediction markets. The CFTC has expressed interest in 'areas where regulatory action can complement future congressional legislation', likely referring to the stalled CLARITY Act.

The SEC had already announced a similar meeting on Friday, discussing new rules for tailored offering regimes involving crypto assets. A spokesperson emphasized that Congress' efforts to pass market structure bills will be supported, but until then, both agencies will work within their authority to advance crypto regulation.
