CFTC Launches Task Force to Regulate Crypto, AI, and Prediction Markets
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has created an Innovation Task Force to develop regulatory frameworks for crypto, artificial intelligence, and prediction markets. CFTC Chair Michael Selig announced the group at the Digital Asset Summit in New York.
Selig said the task force will provide a structured way for founders, developers, and other builders to engage with CFTC staff. He stated that by establishing clear regulatory frameworks, the U.S. can foster responsible innovation and ensure market participants are not left behind.
The new group will be led by Michael J. Passalacqua as senior adviser to Selig. Passalacqua joined the CFTC in January after handling crypto and blockchain matters at international law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.
