CFTC Sends Crypto Rulemaking Package to White House for Review
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has sent its crypto rulemaking package to the White House for review, marking a significant step in regulating the crypto market.
The CFTC's filing, titled 'Regulation Crypto Asset Transactions and Regulation Crypto Asset Markets,' reached the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) on September 17, 2026. This is the first formal regulatory step taken by the agency since the Senate rejected the CLARITY Act.
CFTC Chairman Michael Selig has repeatedly stated that the agency would use its existing statutory authority to regulate the crypto market if Congress cannot deliver a market structure law.
