CFTC Sues Cash FX Group Over Alleged $950M Crypto-Linked Forex Ponzi Scheme

Share

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has filed a lawsuit against Cash FX Group, alleging the company operated a $950 million Ponzi scheme that used cryptocurrency infrastructure to move and distribute funds. The alleged scheme promised investors high returns through automated forex trading.

Cash FX Group allegedly collected approximately $950 million from retail participants by promising they would generate returns through automated forex trading. However, the CFTC claims that cryptocurrency served as a core component of the payment and distribution infrastructure, used to accept investor deposits and move funds internally.

The CFTC's action targets the group's principals and the entity itself, seeking disgorgement, civil monetary penalties, and permanent trading bans. The use of crypto infrastructure in alleged Ponzi operations has been a persistent enforcement theme across both the CFTC and SEC in 2025-2026.
