CFTC Sues Cash FX Group Over Alleged $950M Crypto-Linked Forex Scheme

Share

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has filed a lawsuit against Cash FX Group and three individuals over an alleged $950 million crypto-linked foreign-exchange investment scheme. The operation, which spanned over 400,000 customer accounts, caused at least $406 million in losses. According to the complaint, more than 6,000 US accounts contributed at least $27 million to the scheme.

Cash FX allegedly misrepresented how contributions would be used, stating that 70% would go towards foreign-exchange trading and 30% towards an 'Academy Program' offering trading education. However, the CFTC claims this was false, highlighting regulatory and security risks for crypto and DeFi-adjacent investment products.
