CFTC Unfazed by Failed Legislation, Moves Forward with Crypto Rules
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has announced that it will proceed with establishing clear rules for the cryptocurrency market, despite the failure of the CLARITY Act to pass in Congress.
CFTC Chairman Mike Selig stated that the agency is prepared to move forward on its own, citing existing statutory authority. He emphasized that 'it's go time' and that the CFTC will continue to develop rules for the crypto market.
The CLARITY Act aimed to provide a framework for regulating cryptocurrencies, but its failure has not deterred the CFTC from taking action. By establishing clear guidelines, the agency aims to create a more stable environment for investors and businesses operating in the crypto space.
