CFTC Updates Guidance on Tokenized Crypto and Blockchain Records
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has released updated guidance on tokenized crypto and blockchain records, providing clarity for registered firms in the US derivatives markets.
The CFTC News release, dated September 24, addressed how regulated firms may use blockchain while complying with existing customer-protection requirements. The update extended earlier CFTC work covering tokenized collateral, crypto margin, and digital recordkeeping.
CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig welcomed the revisions, stating that they supported the agency's efforts to provide crypto regulatory clarity.
