Chainlink CCIP 2.0 Cuts Cross-Chain Confirmation Time to 12-24 Seconds
Chainlink's CCIP 2.0 has integrated Ethereum's Fast Confirmation Rule (FCR), significantly speeding up cross-chain transactions. With this update, users can confirm eligible Ethereum transactions in just 12 to 24 seconds, compared with the previous standard of waiting around 13 minutes for full finality on the network.
The FCR operates by leveraging validator attestations and specific assumptions about network synchrony to deliver an early confirmation signal. This allows eligible transactions to be acted upon within seconds, potentially improving liquidity and user experience for DeFi, bridges, and other cross-chain applications.
However, the integration of FCR does not remove all steps involved in a cross-chain transaction, and full processing and execution delays may still occur for some transfers. Applications such as asset bridges and large-scale transfers are advised to weigh the risk factors when choosing whether to rely on rapid confirmation for specific use cases.
