Chainlink Connects Coinbase and Robinhood Through Wrapped Assets
Coinbase and Robinhood have connected their platforms through Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, allowing users to transfer Bitcoin-backed assets between the two platforms. This connection is made possible by Coinbase's wrapped asset ecosystem, which includes cbBTC and cbETH, valued at roughly $7 billion. The infrastructure has been in place since December 2025, when Coinbase designated Chainlink CCIP as its exclusive bridge for all wrapped assets.
Robinhood Chain, launched on July 1, 2026, was built with interoperability baked in from the start and integrated Chainlink as its official data and cross-chain oracle provider. This means that Chainlink is not only moving assets between chains but also providing price feeds to power trading on Robinhood.
The scale of Chainlink's infrastructure is significant, securing over 70% of total value locked across decentralized finance and facilitating more than $31 trillion in cumulative transaction volume. The cbBTC expansion to Robinhood Chain didn't require a standalone announcement, as the infrastructure was already in place through the existing Coinbase-Chainlink CCIP relationship.
For users, this means that they can hold tokenized equities and crypto assets on the same chain, with both assets priced by the same Chainlink oracle infrastructure. For Coinbase, the expansion extends the reach of its wrapped asset products beyond its own ecosystem, while for Robinhood, it provides access to proven, liquid tokenized Bitcoin without building its own wrapped product from scratch.
