Chainlink Lets Institutions Choose Their Own Validators for Cross-Chain Transfers
Chainlink has introduced an update to its cross-chain infrastructure, CCIP version 2.0, which allows institutions to choose their own validators for token and message transfers between different blockchains.
Launched on September 28, the update gives users the option to select additional validators to check transfers beyond Chainlink's main network of 16 independent node operators.
In the past, Chainlink's Risk Management Network performed a separate second-check function. However, with CCIP 2.0, this function is now optional and can be provided by new validators.
This change was made in response to the $292 million attack on Kelp DAO's LayerZero-based bridge in April, which highlighted the importance of multiple checks at cross-chain bridges for security.
