Chainlink Links Banks to Swift's Blockchain Ledger
Chainlink has enabled financial institutions to connect their systems to Swift's blockchain ledger through its platform, using the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) and a self-signing model.
This connection allows banks to maintain control of their transaction keys while still being able to use tokenized payments across chains. The existing security governance and approval processes remain in place, but banks now gain access to 24/7 tokenized deposit payment workflows.
The Swift ledger coordinates fund movement between banks, including overnight and weekends, before final settlement. It doesn't replace Swift's messaging role, with settlement still running through existing mechanisms like real-time gross settlement systems.
