Chainlink Powers New Markets with CCIP and Data Streams
Chainlink's infrastructure is expanding in two directions at once, as its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) and Data Streams services are being used to power new markets.
The first development is the addition of native TAO to Robinhood Chain. Forever Money, a Bittensor-focused bridge project, has been using CCIP to move TAO across networks. This connection was made possible by Forever Money's use of CCIP, which secures cross-chain transfers underneath it.
TAO now has a 1:1 native presence in a second major onchain environment, giving the token another distribution point.
In related news, GMTrade, a Solana-based perpetuals exchange, has launched synthetic gold, silver, and WTI crude oil contracts. These cash-settled positions track commodity prices without GMTrade holding any physical asset.
The pricing for these contracts runs through Chainlink Data Streams RWA Advanced, which delivers fresh price data at the moment a trade executes. This is significant because traditional commodity markets close overnight, on weekends, and on holidays, but onchain settlement does not follow those hours.
As a result, GMTrade's contracts can stay open continuously, making it possible for 24/7 commodity trading. While this structural difference may be seen as an advantage, it is essential to note that commodity prices come from markets that operate on different hours and time zones around the world.
