Chainlink Price Rally Spurred by CCIP 2.0 Launch
Chainlink's LINK token is bucking the trend of most altcoins, which are currently retreating in price. Despite this bearish tone, LINK has been rallying by 4%, with a 30-day gain of 30.3% and a year-to-date performance that has swung to positive territory at 21%. In comparison, top tokens like Solana (SOL) and Ethereum (ETH) are still sitting on yearly losses of 3.6% and 4%, respectively.
The network's total value secured (TVS), a key metric tracking the aggregated value of all assets held across Chainlink's solutions, has been recovering from its low in June to $57 billion as of last month. This growth is largely due to the launch of Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) 2.0.
CCIP 2.0 aims to be a secure 'bridge and messaging highway' for big financial institutions to move massive amounts of money and data safely across different blockchains. The new version incorporates a starter kit for institutions that can be deployed on Google Cloud or Amazon Web Services, as well as Ethereum's Fast Confirmation Rule (FCR) to increase transaction settlement speeds significantly.
Chainlink highlighted that over $15 billion in token value has migrated to CCIP recently, with top industry players like Coinbase and Kraken aiming to strengthen their systems and protocols. This launch seems to have sparked today's price action, with trading volumes jumping by 89% shortly after the project published its official press release.
