Chainlink Unlocks Institutional Tokenization with Cross-Chain Fulcrum
Chainlink has introduced Fulcrum, an end-to-end solution to address challenges in tokenized assets adoption by institutions. This platform enables cross-chain financing and collateral management, allowing large financial institutions to use tokenized assets across multiple blockchain networks without platform lock-in.
The launch targets a major inefficiency in financial markets, where tokenized assets often remain confined to their native platforms instead of being deployed across a wider range of opportunities. According to Citi's data, roughly a quarter of institutional collateral remains idle because of settlement cutoffs and operational friction, translating into approximately $346 million in lost annual revenue opportunities for the average Tier 1 firm.
Fulcrum introduces the first cross-chain repurchase agreement workflow that separates the management of a financing agreement from the blockchains where collateral and cash are settled. Through a single gateway, participants can select eligible assets, establish financing terms, and coordinate settlement across supported networks without being tied to a specific venue.
