Chainlink Unveils CCIP 2.0 Security Boost and Banking Integration with Swift
Chainlink, a decentralized oracle solution provider, has announced significant enhancements to its cross-blockchain bridge infrastructure, designated as CCIP 2.0. This upgrade empowers organizations to integrate customized security protocols for inter-chain asset movements.
The introduction of CCIP 2.0 comes after a major incident in April, where threat actors associated with North Korea's Lazarus Group extracted approximately $292 million worth of rsETH from Kelp DAO through a compromised bridge operated on LayerZero, a Chainlink competitor.
With CCIP 2.0, organizations can now select supplementary validators, whether operating their own infrastructure or contracting third-party services, to complement Chainlink's core network of 16 autonomous node operators.
Chainlink has also revealed a new framework enabling financial institutions to interface with Swift's distributed ledger using its Runtime Environment (CRE). In this arrangement, banking partners retain control over the cryptographic keys that validate their transactions.
