Chainlink Unveils Fulcrum for Cross-Blockchain Institutional Repo Markets
Chainlink has introduced Fulcrum, an institutional funding platform designed to facilitate cross-blockchain repurchase agreements (repo) markets.
The solution is intended to address a problem where 25% of institutional collateral remains stranded due to outdated operational processes, resulting in estimated annual losses of around $346 million for the average Tier 1 company, according to Citi.
Fulcrum enables repo transactions across public and private blockchains by separating agreement governance from settlement networks used by institutions. This allows rules governing agreements to remain distinct from the blockchain or infrastructure used to settle underlying transactions.
Chainlink has positioned Fulcrum as an open protocol for secured lending, aiming to support 24/7 cross-blockchain institutional repo activity.
