Chainlink Unveils Upgraded CCIP 2.0 with Custom Cross-Chain Security Options
Chainlink has launched CCIP 2.0, an upgraded version of its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol that gives institutions and digital asset issuers more control over how assets move between blockchains.
The major upgrade introduces Cross-Chain Verifiers (CCVs), allowing issuers to add their own independent verification layer on top of Chainlink's default security infrastructure.
With CCIP 2.0, issuers can choose custom confirmation thresholds for transactions where speed matters more. This 'faster-than-finality' execution allows selected transfers to execute before full chain finality, giving institutions the option to balance risk and speed.
The upgrade also integrates built-in compliance controls, including Know Your Customer (KYC) checks, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) controls, sanctions screening, allowlists, denylists, transaction limits, and exposure limits. This ensures that cross-chain transfers can carry issuer-defined compliance rules.
