Chainlink Upgrades Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol for Institutional Users
Chainlink has launched CCIP 2.0, an upgraded version of its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol, on September 28, 2026. This upgrade allows institutions to operate their own independent Cross-Chain Verifiers on cloud platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud, adding a self-controlled verification step on top of Chainlink's existing network security.
The new protocol also includes automated KYC, anti-money-laundering, and sanctions screening for every transaction that moves across the protocol. This is in addition to configurable settlement speed, which lets institutions choose between near-instant transfers and fully finalized transfers requiring custom approvals.
Chainlink Labs' chief business officer said 'institutions need a neutral standard for moving digital assets across chains,' framing the upgrade as a response to a fragmented blockchain landscape where legacy bridging solutions have a poor security track record.
