Chainlink's $9.30 Hurdle: Can Smart Money Conviction Push Price to New Highs?

The technical setup for Chainlink (LINK) looks promising, but there's still a key barrier to overcome. LINK has reclaimed its short and medium-term averages, sitting above the 7-, 20-, and 50-day SMAs. The 50-day average at $7.93 has become an established floor, while the grind upward from it has been orderly.

However, there's a caveat: until LINK reclaims the 200-day SMA at $9.30, any bullish narrative is limited by this level. This line isn't just resistance; it's the boundary between a real trend reversal and a prolonged bear market bounce.

The derivatives data tells a different story than the spot market. Open interest expanded nearly 3% in 24 hours to $77 million notional, with retail accounts running 64.7% long. Top trader accounts, however, are positioned at 68.5% long, indicating clean directional conviction.

The next decision point for LINK is a daily close above $8.80. If that happens on expanding volume conviction, it could flip the entire cluster from resistance to support and open a direct path to $9.00, then $9.30.
