Cipher Digital Shares Plummet 23% Amid Financial Struggles

Cipher Digital (NASDAQ:CIFR) closed trading on Friday at $17.18 after plummeting 23% since the previous week, despite a 5.2% gain in the Nasdaq Composite over the same period.

The decline is notable as it contradicts the overall trend in the technology sector, suggesting that the issue lies within Cipher itself rather than being a general market downturn.

Cipher's earnings report showed a sharp drop in revenue from Bitcoin mining, down 43% to $24.8 million, while interest expenses skyrocketed to $66.7 million, more than twice the mining revenue for the quarter.

The company's financial strategy is shifting towards high-performance computing (HPC), with its initial capacity at the Black Pearl site now operational and rental activity commenced in August, two months ahead of schedule.
