Circle Internet Group is making its first major acquisition since going public in June 2025. The stablecoin issuer is buying Tazapay, a Singapore-headquartered payments firm with $25 billion in annualized volume and over 60 banking partners, for approximately $400 million in an all-stock transaction.

Tazapay's existing relationship with Circle dates back to 2025 when it became a design partner for the Circle Payments Network. The acquisition is expected to close in 2027 after receiving regulatory approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

The deal marks the transition of stablecoin issuers into infrastructure companies, where owning cross-border settlement infrastructure becomes crucial for adoption. Jeremy Allaire, Co-Founder and CEO at Circle, emphasized that combining USDC with Tazapay's banking relationships and local payout rails will accelerate worldwide USDC adoption.
