Circle Acquires Tazapay to Bridge Last Mile Gap in Stablecoin Payments
Circle is acquiring Tazapay for $400 million in stock to address the last mile challenge in stablecoin adoption. The deal aims to integrate USDC, a widely used stablecoin, with Tazapay's banking relationships and local payout rails. This combination would enable faster and more efficient payments across borders.
Tazapay processed over $25 billion in annualized payment volume as of July 31, 2026, and has connections to more than 60 banking and fintech partners across over 100 markets. The acquisition would bring these capabilities under Circle's umbrella, allowing for a more seamless experience for users.
The integration is expected to accelerate worldwide adoption of USDC, but it remains to be seen how Circle will approach the combination of Tazapay with its existing systems. Will it favor self-managed payments or a managed service? The answer lies in the future.
