Circle Brings USDC Branding to Premier League Powerhouse Chelsea
Circle, a leading stablecoin issuer, has signed a significant sponsorship agreement with Chelsea Football Club. Starting from the 2026/27 season, Circle will become Chelsea's principal partner and official front-of-shirt sponsor. The partnership places Circle and USDC branding across men's, women's, and academy kits.
The deal marks a strategic push into mainstream visibility for stablecoins like USDC. With a total supply of $292.2 billion, U.S. dollar-denominated assets dominate the sector, with Tether's USDT holding 62.7% and Circle's share standing at 25.3%. The company views this partnership as an opportunity to showcase USDC's role in a rapidly expanding digital-value ecosystem.
Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said that the company built USDC on the belief that money should move as seamlessly as information online. He added that partnering with Chelsea connects the company with a worldwide sports community aligned with that same borderless vision. Chelsea FC President Jason Gannon described both organizations as focused on long-term innovation.
The deal also marks a renewed presence for crypto in sports sponsorships after a pullback following the 2022 market downturn. Circle holds an FCA electronic money issuer license in the UK, providing regulatory footing for the partnership. The new branding will debut at Sunday's home match against Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
