Circle has launched its Arc blockchain platform, which has attracted major players from both traditional finance and the crypto space. According to CEO Jeremy Allaire, the significance of Arc surpasses that of USDC.

Arc employs a Proof of Authority (POA) mechanism, but will transition to Proof of Stake (PoS) by 2027, at which point the ARC token will play a pivotal role in network security, governance, and functionality. The platform has already attracted over a hundred institutions, including Bank of America, Citi, Goldman Sachs, and Visa as initial validators.

Circle's Arc is designed to be an asset issuance platform that supports the issuance of funds, equities, commodities, and currencies, and integrates Circle's payment network with the StableFX foreign-exchange platform. This allows for 24/7 cross-currency settlement, with customizable privacy protection and sub-second confirmation times.
