Circle Leadership Overhaul Amid Binance Investment
Circle, a leading stablecoin issuer, has undergone significant leadership changes. Co-founder P. Sean Neville has stepped down from the board, effective September 25, 2023, reducing the board size to seven members.
Neville's resignation was due to personal reasons and not related to any disagreements over Circle's operations or policies. The company described the move as part of an 'orderly process of Board refreshment.'
Circle's Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Jeremy Fox-Geen, will step down by December 31, 2026, or sooner if a successor is named. He will receive $1.05 million in post-termination payments tied to restrictive covenants.
The company has hired an executive search firm to find its next finance chief, and Fox-Geen will remain in the role during the transition period. His departure follows Binance's recent $100 million investment in Circle and a new five-year USDC commercial agreement.
