Circle Refuses to Roll Back Arc Blockchain Even in Face of Major Hacks
Nikhil Chandhok, Circle's chief product and technology officer, emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of Arc's blockchain in the face of potential hacks. He stated that even if a large-scale USDC hack were to occur, Circle would be cautious about reversing transaction records on Arc.
This stance is rooted in the principle of blockchain immutability, which ensures that once transactions are recorded, they cannot be altered or erased. Chandhok noted that Arc is an immutable blockchain, backed by over 20 validators, including BlackRock, DTCC, Visa, Mastercard, and Standard Chartered.
In the event of a major hack, Circle would not consider reversing the blockchain, as this could damage its immutability and undermine trust in financial infrastructure. Users on Arc should assess the risks associated with tokens and smart contracts they use, rather than relying on Circle to intervene.
