Circle Secures Key Charter in New York Regulatory Landscape
Circle Internet Group has received a limited purpose trust charter from the New York Department of Financial Services for Circle New York Trust, further solidifying its regulatory foundation in the US.
The charter adds to Circle's existing array of U.S. and international regulatory licenses and strengthens the compliance structure behind USDC, the company's flagship stablecoin.
Circle first entered New York's regulatory system in 2015 through a BitLicense, marking the beginning of a decade-long relationship with NYDFS that has seen the company expand its presence within the framework rather than avoid it.
Circle's Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO Jeremy Allaire described the charter as 'a longstanding objective for Circle given the regulatory clarity that comes with it', reflecting the company's commitment to formal compliance across the markets it serves.
