Circle Internet Group's (NYSE: CRCL) stock surged by 5% during pre-market hours on Wednesday, August 5th. The company's shares rose after it reported strong profits that exceeded analysts' forecasts, despite falling short of revenue targets.

The firm posted $701 million in annual revenue growth, but this was slightly below the expected $713 million. However, Circle's adjusted earnings came in at 18 cents per share, surpassing analysts' forecast of 16 cents.

The company's US dollar-backed stablecoin, USDC, saw significant growth, with its supply increasing by 19% year-over-year to $73.3 billion. The on-chain transfer volume for USDC also grew by 150% to $14.8 trillion.

Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire commented on the results, stating that 'Our quarterly financial results reflect the current rate environment and a crypto market that has slowed, both are conditions outside our network.' He added that near-term activity tells a different story.
