Circle Stock Plunges 70%: Is It Time to Reassess Investment Thesis?
Circle Internet Group (CRCL) made its stock market debut in June 2025, with shares trading as high as $299 at one point. However, the company's stock price has declined significantly since then, currently trading at around $87.98.
The decline is attributed to Circle's recent financial results, where it beat consensus earnings estimates but missed on revenue in Q2 2026. The revenue miss was particularly noteworthy, with investors already doubting the stablecoin investment thesis due to the crypto market downturn and lack of progress on key legislation.
However, despite these challenges, Circle still has a strong growth story ahead. The company is seeing significant growth in USDC on-chain transaction volume, with 19% more USDC in circulation compared to last year. Additionally, Circle's Arc blockchain network is gaining attention for its potential to advance new use cases in stablecoin finance.
Circle continues to roll out initiatives to drive growth, including the recent approval from the OCC to establish a trust bank and showcasing expanded USDC use cases from high-profile financial partners.
