Citi and Coinbase Unite Fiat and Crypto in Groundbreaking Stablecoin Payments
Citi and Coinbase have launched bank-grade stablecoin payments, connecting Citi's regulated banking rails to Coinbase's digital-asset movement.
The new integration gives businesses access to bank-like fiat accounts that can automatically convert into USDC (a dollar-pegged stablecoin), and allows Citi corporate clients to accept stablecoin payments that settle back into fiat. This essentially collapses the traditional split between fiat and crypto, enabling global business stablecoin payments through a single connected flow.
This shift has significant implications for global businesses and DAOs, as it eliminates the need for separate fiat and crypto stacks. Businesses can now keep bank-like fiat operations while converting to USDC inside the same flow, making it easier to manage their finances across borders.
