Citi Boosts Ethereum Forecast as Market Conditions Improve
Citi has increased its Ethereum price forecast to $3,028 from $2,240, representing a roughly 35% increase. This revised estimate reflects Citi's improving outlook for crypto markets, which is attributed to stronger digital-asset activity, a more supportive macro backdrop, and renewed institutional participation.
The current challenge for Ethereum is breaking above the $2,800 level, which has proven to be a stubborn resistance zone in recent attempts higher. A clean breakout above this area could pave the way for a move towards the psychologically important $3,000 level, putting Citi's target within reach.
However, there are warning signs that may temper enthusiasm for Ethereum's prospects. Institutional flow data shows U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs recording net outflows of $55.4 million on October 1, following another $59.6 million in withdrawals on September 30. This reversal from earlier strength in institutional flows could undermine Citi's thesis.
