Citi Forecasts $113,000 Bitcoin, $3,028 Ether in 12 Months
Citi, a major bank, has released its digital-asset outlook, setting price targets for Bitcoin and Ether. According to the bank, Bitcoin is expected to reach $113,000 in 12 months, while Ether is forecasted to hit $3,028. This represents a potential upside of 35% to 40% for Bitcoin from its current trading levels.
The bank's estimates depend on various assumptions, including institutional demand, cryptocurrency adoption, and exchange-traded fund flows. Citi's framework for Bitcoin emphasizes its growing institutional accessibility and scarcity characteristics, which it believes will drive demand and higher prices.
However, Citi's targets for Ether are more modest, reflecting the bank's assessment that Ether's valuation is tied to activity across the Ethereum network, including decentralized finance, stablecoins, and layer-two networks. The bank notes that institutional demand for Ether has been smaller and less consistent than for Bitcoin.
Citi's projections remain sensitive to market conditions, and the bank cautions that crypto assets have historically experienced significant price swings. The bank's base case remains constructive on both assets, but assigns considerably stronger upside to Bitcoin.
