Citi to Launch Institutional Bitcoin Custody by Year-End
Citi has announced plans to launch institutional Bitcoin custody services by the end of this year. The move comes as part of its Custody+ platform, which brings digital assets and traditional securities into one custody framework.
The bank expects more than 80% of its asset-servicing events to be processed in real-time, with a system that processes transactions through one continuous flow across domestic and international custody networks. Citi has invested over $2 billion annually in its Services platform strategy.
Custody+ combines Bitcoin and securities services, allowing clients to access traditional securities and cryptocurrency custody through the same framework. The bank's Token Services already supports the near-instant transfer of tokenized deposits at any time of day across selected Citi markets.
