Citi's $113,000 Bitcoin Target Faces Skepticism from AI Models
Citi has raised its one-year price target for Bitcoin (BTC) to $113,000, a significant jump from its previous estimate of $82,000. This increase has sparked interest in whether Bitcoin can hit this target by October 2027.
To gauge the likelihood of this happening, 24/7 Wall St. consulted three AI models: ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok.
The responses were varied, with ChatGPT estimating a 68% chance of reaching the target, while Claude and Grok placed it at 46% and 38%, respectively. ChatGPT also forecasted a 12-month Bitcoin price above Citi's target, suggesting it could reach $118,000.
However, all three AI models agreed that Citi's projected $5 billion in new inflows into crypto funds within the year is insufficient to drive Bitcoin to $113,000. ChatGPT estimated that around $6 billion to $10 billion would be needed, while Claude and Grok projected the requirement at $14 billion and $15 billion, respectively.
The AI models also identified a restrictive Federal Reserve as the biggest threat to Bitcoin's growth, citing the possibility of another rate hike during the Fed's meeting on October 27-28. If this happens, Bitcoin could drop to around $67,500, $72,000, or $78,000, depending on the model's estimate.
