Citrea Acquires Crest, Unveils Mobile Wallet for Private Bitcoin Transactions
Citrea has made a significant move in the world of Bitcoin privacy with its acquisition of self-custodial wallet Crest. The company plans to launch a mobile product that will automatically shield transactions and support private Bitcoin transfers.
The new wallet, which is expected to be released in the coming weeks, will also provide cross-chain access between Bitcoin and Ethereum, allowing users to move assets across both ecosystems from the same product.
Citrea's flagship privacy product, Crest, will become a key part of this new offering. Its founder, Meliksah Gurtemel, will join Citrea as product lead.
The mobile wallet will enable users to use shielded Bitcoin addresses when paying Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) addresses with assets such as USDC and Ether (ETH).
